Started from a single question about a dying fern
Most plant advice online is vague. We decided to fix that.
Feelamaze began in 2017 when a small group of horticulture enthusiasts in New South Wales noticed that students across regional Australia had almost no access to quality, structured plant education. The nearest workshops were hours away, and YouTube videos rarely got past surface-level tips.
The first lecture series covered light requirements, soil layering, and container selection — three topics that most beginners get completely wrong. The response from students in Tamworth, Dubbo, and Broken Hill made it clear: geography had been the main barrier, not interest.
Every course we build now follows the same principle — one clear concept per session, with real plant specimens and honest discussion of what goes wrong and why.
What shapes how we teach
Four principles that show up in every lecture, every plant discussion, every student interaction.
Specificity first
We name the plant species, the pot size, the humidity range. No generic advice that could apply to anything.
Honest difficulty
Some plants are genuinely hard to keep alive indoors. We say so, and explain what actually goes wrong.
Sequential logic
Each lecture builds on the previous. You won't understand potting mix until you understand root systems.
Distance parity
A student in Cobar gets the same depth of instruction as one in Sydney. Location changes nothing about quality.
Small group, narrow focus
Feelamaze runs on a compact team of horticulturists and educators who each specialise in a specific area of indoor plant design — from low-light environments to terrariums to large-format statement plants.
Nobody here teaches every topic. That constraint is intentional. When an instructor covers only what they know deeply, students notice the difference immediately.
